HELP: Adopt a Primate Today

20514_Carly.jpg

February is Carly’s month to shine at the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary. All month long, we are highlighting her alongside the other monkeys available for adoption. Carly arrived at the sanctuary in 2005 after a sad life of isolation, where she was kept as a “pet”—but today, she thrives. Read Carly’s story. Throughout the month of February, when you adopt a monkey at the $52 level or higher – either for yourself or as a Valentine’s Day gift – you will receive a free plush monkey to accompany your adoption package.

ACT: Lions on a Dinner Plate?! Keep Lion Meat Off of the Menu!

20514_LionMeat.jpg

Shockingly, the U.S. has experienced a recent increase in the availability of lion meat in burger shops, taco stands, and upscale restaurants:  a dangerous trend that could seriously threaten lion populations. Born Free USA’s investigation into the lion meat industry uncovered appalling details of a cycle that involves lion cubs bred for the captive display industry, caged lions shot at a slaughterhouse, and lion meat sold to unwitting consumers without proper regulatory oversight of animal welfare and human health and safety. Please sign this petition urging the FDA to stop approving the sale of lion meat.

VICTORY: Rhino Horn Case: Update20514_Rhino.jpg

In December, Born Free USA asked our members to write letters to Judge John Gleeson, urging him to impose a strict sentence for illegal rhinoceros horn trafficker, Michael Slattery, Jr. On Friday, January 10, Mr. Slattery was sentenced to serve 14 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release; to pay a $10,000 fine; and to forfeit $50,000 in profits from his rhino horn trade. Born Free USA sincerely appreciates your involvement in this momentous case.
