SAVE: Successful Primate Rescues

71614_eNews_LongTailRescue.jpg

The Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary in Texas recently welcomed Tweek and Starbuck, two rhesus macaques who were rehomed with us from a research laboratory. They are slowly transitioning to a life with outdoor space (almost certainly for the first time in their lives). Similarly, Amy, a Japanese macaque, and Billie, a female vervet, were both confiscated in Pennsylvania and are now at the sanctuary. After being released from quarantine, they are in separate outdoor enclosures getting exercise and enjoying the sun. Though Amy and Billie still have a long road ahead, we hope they will soon enjoy the direct company of other monkeys. Click here to read an update about the 15 long-tailed macaques whom we rescued from AniClin Laboratories in 2010!

Born Free USA has teamed up with vegan fashion line Vaute Couture to create a compassionate fashion statement! This limited edition "Fur Get Me Not" tank top sends the powerful message that we will not forget the animals who die in the name of vanity. The tank, made of organic and recycled materials, is a casual racerback style with raw edges and a rounded hem line—and is sustainably printed in the USA. After appearing at Nashville Fashion Week and debuting at Green Festival, this tank top is already sold out on Vaute Couture's website... but it's still available here. All proceeds benefit Born Free USA.
